Dinosaur Cookies!

Yesterday I made dinosaur cookies! My friend bought me a dinosaur cookie cutter so it seemed the right thing to do...Here is the recipe (same as a regular cookie recipe but with special technique in order to cut them into shapes)

Choc Chip Cut-Out Cookies

1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg yolk
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 pack choc chips
1 pack of chopped walnuts (optional)

Soften butter by mixing in a bowl then beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract and salt in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in egg yolk. Gradually beat in flour. Stir in 1 1/2 cups choc chips. Divide dough in half; cover. Chill for 1 hour or until firm.

Roll half of dough to 1/4-inch thickness between two sheets of waxed paper. Remove top sheet of waxed paper. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters. Lift from waxed paper; place on ungreased baking sheets. Chill for 10 minutes. Repeat with remaining dough.

(Here they are chillaxing in the fridge)

Bake in preheated 350° F. oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Eat.

They spread out a bit on the trays so keep a good distance between each cookie so they don't all fuse together into conjoined dinosaurs (like mine did so I had to carefully cut them apart!) I didn't have time to photo them all displayed nice on a golden plate with icing sugar sprinkles so you'll have to imagine that. They taste good!

GRIZZLY BEAR THURSDAY!

I declare this day GRIZZLY BEAR THURSDAY! Go and draw bears! And send them to me if you do! do it! go! BEARS!!!

I am ordering some GRIZZLY BEAR THURSDAY badges next week so the best bear drawings/paintings/sketches sent to me I'll send a free badge to! Then I plan to collect all the grizzlys and put them together on a GRIZZLY BEAR THURSDAY website. It will be like a mega awesome club or something. Wow. It's like your dream come true right?

So today's sushi and any sushi posted on a Thursday from now on will feature big bears.

I've not had much sleep this week but I feel that this is a good idea.

(Yeah so that's the plan- once a month will be GRIZZLY BEAR THURSDAY and on that day I'll choose the best pictures who will get a free badge, but send in your bears any time! I'll pot them all on the website. Yes I said pot them all on the website, I can't type today, what with it? The badges will not be for sale, the only way to get an exclusive badge is to draw a good grizzly. I might even make it into a club eventually with books and stuff, maybe) Comment to let me know what you think! no one comments on my blog these days! :o(

oh....email your bears as a jpg to sushimonsters@gmail.com

Badge design options at the moment...

I'm baking dinosaur cookies tomorrow so expect a blog about that soon!

Second thing- the Online Comic Sushi on the website now has a SEARCH FOR A DISH function! try it out! you can go and search for your favourite character eg. Leaning Rabbit and all the strips featuring him will be shown. There are still a fair few missing since the site changes which I plan to re upload at the end of the August one a day!

Original Artwork sale!

HARK! I have decided to sell the ORIGINAL artwork for this years August comic sushi. And I may continue for further sushi perhaps...This sale will also include the original artwork from Magic Biro Comic! (of which only 3 pages were online so ask me about that if interested!) And also other sushi's that are lying around my scanner at the moment- photos will be added to the Online Comic Sushi blog at the end of the month for all pre August strips! I'll only be selling good stuff i.e drawings that are suitable for framing.

Anyway, they are usually drawn at A6, A5 or A4 sizes.

I will send them flat packed (like an ikea table...) with a free postcard of your choice, which I will draw on too! They will all be signed as well. So contact me if you want a specific one and follow the paypal payment through the online shop. The blog shows all pieces for sale and if it has a * in the title that means it is unavailable. I'll put a note in each one too listing the size etc. They are be in the shop NOW! Just make sure to put a note with your order to let me know which one you'd like from the blog. As usual postage will be just £1 for the UK no matter the size of your order (contact me for prices elsewhere)

Frame them, give them as a gift, stick them on your wall, colour them in, kiss them, caress them, etc etc. Don't forget I also do commissions so if you want something specific you can always contact me.

Oh while I'm here check this out!! It's a computer painted version of Batlizz by my friend Mr Simpson, awesome huh!

Online Comic Sushi Blog!

I have put the Online Comic Sushi strips on a blog HERE HERE HERE!

This is just because my site has no RSS feed at the moment so I thought it would be a good idea to put the one a day August comics there as well as I know it's easier for some people that way!
Enjoy! Here is todays-

Character Page!!

Hello!

If you take a look at my website you will see an EXCITING NEW FEATURE!! Yes, it's a character page! In the style of the Street Fighter menu. It is still awaiting sound effects and I might make the characters black and white as I'm still not sure about them in colour. But go and take a look, let me know what you think! It has info on all my main characters and will eventually have links to their comic sushi stories and games/animations of them and stuff! Just click on the thumbnail image of your favourite character to find out more about them!

Also...***BORING SHOP NOTICE*** I've just reordered nearly all badges in the shop apart from Cute Dino Pin and You Win badge (which are both now sold out and will be reordered in the future...) The rest are all due to arrive soon so if you order any of the other badges they will be back in stock in a week or so!

Oh also, Orbital in London now has new stock including Magic Biro Comic!

Alternative Press Fair Fun!

This Sunday I was in London for the Alternative Press Fair II and it was great! Here are some photos from the day (more on facebook page)-

Thanks to everyone who bought my comics and stuff! And a big thanks to everyone who organised the weekend and to everyone I chatted to- the fair has made me feel enthusiastic about small press again- I think it takes events like this and talking to people who do the same thing to realise how important it is not to give up and get a "real job" in the meat factory or wherever.

Magic Biro Comic and bookmarks are now up in the shop (...and the first 3 comic sushi's this August are samples from the comic!)

Oh before I forget- take a look at the Thought Bubble Blog for a post about my comics and check out the Forbidden Planet Blog for a lovely review of Garden Funnies.

The ONE A DAY FOR AUGUST has started on my Online Comic Sushi! Don't forget to bookmark it and check EVERY day! Today's strip looks like this-
P.S. When I was in London I saw this Crispy Duck sign in awesome China Town! I need to look out for a Sour Rabbit one too and then I can use it as the comic title...
